What Dice Are Included in a 7-Dice Set?

A 7-dice set includes one four-sided die, one six-sided die, one eight-sided die, two ten-sided dice (numbered differently), one twelve-sided die, and one twenty-sided die. These dice are also referred to as:

  • A d4
  • A d6
  • A d8
  • A d10
  • Die percentile or percentile die (written as d%)
  • A d12
  • A d20

The small "d" in the above names stands for "die" or "dice," depending on how many you have (which means that the plural for d20, for example, is d20).

A percentile die and a d10 have the same number of sides, but where a d10 is numbered 0 - 9 (with the zero representing the 10), a percentile die is numbered 00, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 (with 00 representing 100).

And only one of these dice, in our option, can be considered as problematic as a Lego. That is a d4. Stepping on one of these pyramid-shaped, sharp-edged little nightmares is not an experience I recommend. They can also be irritatingly difficult to grab, which is why a number of people have begun experimenting with different shapes.
