This is a 7-dice set for dnd, Pathfinder, and other TTRPGs. They are white dice beautifully marbled with patterns of blue and gold, protected by a layer of clear resin. This new release is a must-have for any TTRPG players playing a paladin, noble, or high elf.

It's freakin' gorgeous, and it's worth a few moments of players' and DMs' time alike to learn the inspiration behind it, latent meaning in the color, and what characters are a perfect match for this set.

Inspiration Behind the Aesthetics of the Paladin Sharpedge Dice Set

The aesthetics of the Paladin Sharpedge Dice Set are no accident. Each element of the design was carefully chosen to create a visually stunning and thematically cohesive set of dice. The marble white reflects purity and tranquility, the gold streams convey wealth and glory, and the blue echos royalty of kingdoms long past.

What Does Marble White Represent?

Marble, particularly carrara marble, is extremely unique. It is able to absorb a tiny amount of light, which makes it appear brighter and deeper than alternatives. Hence, the English word for it is derived from the Greek word for "shining stone."

Its consistent, cream color has traditionally represented purity, elegance, tranquility, virginity, and simplicity. Due to its ubiquitous use in Roman and Greek statues and architecture, it is now culturally associated with luxury and sophistication.

Royal French flag

Selecting the Perfect Blend of Colors: French Inspiration

Above is an image of the French royal flag (prior to the French Revolution). For a whole two centuries prior to the French Revolution, the French king was the monarchy or monarchies. Louis the XIV was famously "The Sun King" and Versailles was the greatest of the royal palaces. It is no wonder that their flag, and everything about it, is associated with royalty more than any other standard.

Like the dice, it too has a white/marble background, patterned with the famous symbol of France: the fleur-de-lis (or "golden lily"). This symbol captured everything Catholic France longed to be: pure, virtuous, chaste, and full of light. Its gold color reflects the divine right by which the Bourbon family rules, and well as the wealth and bounty that will be bestowed upon the nation.

Speaking of royalty... the color in the flag is known as "royal blue." It has its own unique meaning (empathy and dependability), but shares meaning with both white marble and gold (purity, peace). It was so associated with old France that even to this day, many in France consider it the "national color." On the dice, the deep blue color contrasts beautifully with the marble white background, making the numbers on the dice clear and easy to read.

Characters and Campaigns Perfect for the Paladin Sharpedge Dice Set

The Paladin Sharpedge Dice Set is not only visually stunning but also perfectly suited for certain characters and campaigns in RPG games. Here are a few examples:

Paladins

It's called "Paladin Sharpedge Dice"... so, obviously, it will be great for paladin player characters! Paladins are one of the only character classes that come with built in role-playing requirements. They alone must take an oath in order to gain their Paladin abilities. These oaths guide their personalities, habits, and decisions; to deviate from them is to lose all their unique abilities.

It is no surprise that dice inspired by the class would hearken to marble white, blue, and gold. These colors partnered together scream virtue, purity, valor, and faithfulness... all fitting for a Paladin. These adventurers uphold the highest ideals for their religion, order, or nation, and maintain their honor even unto death. Such nobility is worthy of the color composition of kings!

Noble Background

Characters with a noble background often come from prestigious families and carry themselves with an air of elegance and sophistication. The Paladin Sharpedge Dice Set perfectly complements the heritage, prestige, and elitism associated with the bourgeoisie. While players are trading copper and silver, YOUR character deals only in gold. While others wear rugged leather armor, YOURS always carries pure white linens in the trunk of the carriage. And it's a perfect set for dungeon masters constantly role-playing a troublesome noble that irritates his gamers!

High Elves

If any race were to gravitate to these dice, it would be he elves. Yes, it lacks "elven" script, and dragonborn and dwarves have as much claim to gold as elves. But the combination and composition of all the colors echoes only the oldest, most refined, most noble of races. And while yuan-ti might also claim that title... they lack the marble white noble purity of elves. Yes, high elves an be haughty, and their empires have risen and fallen with great strife. But there is no questioning their commitment to the good, true, and beautiful (blue), and their long lifespans allow for a grand accumulation of wealth (gold).
