The small town of Westwend is situated far off the beaten path alongside a forest of oak and pine. In its heyday, it flourished, but what should have remained an idyllic countryside village is now bleak and grim... and all but abandoned. What citizens remain are stretched thin and desperate, each of them too weak, too poor, or too stubborn to flee. Hope is fading fast as their troubles only get worse. What is drawing death to Westwend's doorstep? And why?

This adventure module is designed for a group of four 6th level player characters and is tailored around the use of 5e (2014) stat blocks. It is built to satisfy all three of D&D's major pillars—combat, exploration, and role-play—but it is primarily a story-driven mystery with exploration and narrative at its core. This is a linear campaign suited to those interested in following a narrative thread through mysterious and unsettling settings and circumstances. This adventure is a short adventure designed to take 5 – 8 lengthy sessions to complete. Long sessions should contain at least a single combat encounter, often times multiple; short sessions may be absent combat entirely. This adventure deals with themes of death.
